When I first read the backstory of this TARDIS, how it belonged to a dead alternate 3rd Doctor and the 7th Doctor had to use it for a while since his TARDIS was temporarily gone, I just HAD to build it! Plus, we did have a redesigned 1996 console laying around so it only seemed right to use it here.

I don't know why but for some reason this console room only seemed to get its popularity from the book "Human Nature", by Paul Nornell, when there's an entire series of novels that feature it, starting with "Blood Heat" by Jim Mortimore. I'd recommend both, they're great reads. :)
